The first session of the Lifestyle Stewardship Series — Wills and Trust will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2025, beginning at 1:00 p.m., after WOW in the Fellowship Hall. A light lunch will be served for UMMBC members who sign up by Sunday, September 14, 2025.

By special requests from WOW and Active Adult Ministry participants, this Stewardship session will provide a general overview of steps individuals may take to get their affairs in order. In addition to wills and trusts, the topics will include briefly: advance planning in case of incapacity (i.e. POAs), “transfer on death” actions (real property and personal property assets), and Medicaid eligibility factors for long term care. Time will not allow for a deep dive into each topic. The intent is to provide awareness, to alert individuals about steps required to achieve certain goals, and instructions on how to explore options. The information presented will not constitute legal, accountant, or tax advice.

The Stewardship presenters for this first session are Reginald M. Mathis and Benita Crowell. Attorney Mathis earned his Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law and his Master of Divinity from Wake Forest University. In addition to being a licensed attorney, he is an ordained minister which underscores his commitment to service and leadership. Ms. Crowell is the Supervisor of Staff Development and Training at Forsyth County Department of Social Services, where she has served for 18 years in the Medicaid Services Division. She was recently described as someone who shows her work ethic and integrity the first day you meet her.

Please make plans to attend the first session on September 24th. Leave a message with the church office to receive additional information or to offer suggestions for future topics with regards to changing federal and state laws.

Lunch will be provided to UMMBC members who register by Sunday, September 14.
