  • Melanie Nicole Hill

    Friday's Presenter

    Melanie Nicole Hill was born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.    Melanie is a 1991 graduate of Carver High School.  She attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and High Point University.  She earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree with honors in Business Management. Melanie plans to pursue a Master’s of Divinity with emphasis in Pastoral Counseling.

     

    Melanie received her spiritual foundation at Union Baptist Church where she was active in the Sunday School, Youth Missionary, Youth Choir, and Baptist Training Union.  During her college years and early young adulthood, she was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC where her spiritual walk was even more nurtured.  She later returned to Union Baptist Church where she became active in the Evangelism Ministry, HIV/AIDS Ministry and the Music and Fine Arts Ministry.  She was licensed to preach in October 2003 under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Sir Walter L. Mack, Jr and ordained by the Rowan Baptist Association in August 2008.

     

    She is currently a member of Lexington Christian Fellowship under the leadership of her husband, Pastor Robert C. Hill, Jr. Together; they are the proud parents of Courtney, Victoria, Desmond, and Hope; and the proud grandparents of Semaj, Kingston, and Dallas. Melanie is employed at Novant Health.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family.

     

    Robert and Melanie are founders of “There is Hope Ministries”. This is a ministry to designed to support families are who suffer from infertility, experienced miscarriages and stillborn births.  Because of their journey, they want to support and minister to those who are or have experienced the same pain.  Romans 8:24-25 “For in this hope, we are saved.  Now hope that is seen, is not hope.  For who hopes for what he sees?  But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience”.

  • Rev. Barbara Florvil Lavarin

    Saturday Presenter & Sunday Worship Speaker

    Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Rev. Barbara Lavarin is a proud daughter of Haitian immigrants. Barbara earned her B.A. in Child Development from Tufts University and her Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. At Princeton, she faithfully served as the co-chair of the Association of Black Seminarians’ Women’s Fellowship focusing her scholarship in Black Church Studies, and Women, Gender, and Theology Studies. Rev. Lavarin was licensed to preach the Gospel at the Historic Berean Baptist Church in Brooklyn under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Arlee Arkofa. She then went on to joyfully serve as the Assistant to the Pastor for Youth and College at the Historic Alfred Street Baptist Church, in Alexandria, VA, where she was ordained by the Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley. Rev. Lavarin has also earned her certification as a Spiritual Director from the renowned Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in Washington, D.C. She currently serves as the Director of Supporting Women in Ministry at Baptist Women in Ministry. Rev. Barbara is blessed to be a member of First Calvary Baptist Church in Durham, NC where her husband, Marc Antoine Lavarin, is the pastor. In her free time, she loves watching new tv series with her husband and enjoying life through the eyes of her two children Marc Jr., affectionately know as M.J. and Sophia. In all that she does, she prays to encourage others to live abundant lives in Christ. 

  • Dr. Kendra Davis

    Dr. Kendra Davis has been described by many as a vitamin B12 shot, “There is no way to be in her presence and not be ENERGIZED, EDUCATED & EMPOWERED.” Dr. Davis has severed many organizations as both a keynote speaker & trainer. Organizations include (NCFADS) The NC Foundations For Alcohol & Drugs Studies: Summer School & Winter school, State Employees Association of NC (SEANC) Emerging Leaders Luncheon & The Advanced Leadership Training Institute, The NC Department of Public Safety, NC Division of Prisons, NC Department of Community Corrections, Administrative Office of Courts – Drug Treatment Court & Family Court, Experiment In Self-Reliance (ESR), YWCA Hawley House, Hosanna House of Transition, The Mcleod Addictive Disease Center, Addiction Recovery Care Association Inc (ARCA), UNC-Chapel Hill, South Central Recovery, The Bethesda Center for the Homeless, and Samaritan Ministries for the Homeless (just to name a few). Dr. Davis eclectic presentation style of teaching including but not limited to audio / visual aids and activities make learning fun and practical for everyone.” 


    Dr. Davis is a graduated of Winston-Salem State University. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology & a Master of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. She is also a graduate of Apex School of Theology where she earned a Masters of Divinity degree and a Doctor of Ministry degree in Biblical Studies. 


    Dr. Davis is an Internationally Certified, Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor, licensed by the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium, the NC Addiction Specialist Professional Practice Board, the NC Problem Gamblers Program and the National Association of Forensic Counselors. Dr. Davis holds the following credentials: Master Addictions Counselor (MAC), Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS), Certified Criminal Justice Addiction Professional (CCJP), Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), and Certified Sex Offender Treatment Specialist (CSOTS). 


    In 2010, Kendra established K*METAMORPHOSIS, a counseling and professional development firm. This organization was birthed out of Kendra’s desire to fill a much needed treatment and training gap in the community. Kendra is committed to empower individuals with the necessary tools and resources required to make their dreams become a reality. Her life mission is built on the belief of the butterfly effect, where small changes can make a big difference. 


    In 2016 Kendra published, It’s ONLY a Test: “Mastering the Addiction Counselors Exam” a power packed study guide for participatory learners. This workbook is filled with practical exercises, worksheets and written assignments that engage the reader in a wide range of independent study sessions. In addition Dr. Davis facilitates Exam Prep Courses, her hands-on approach to learning will empower the participants with the key concepts required to “MASTER” The Addiction Counselors Exam. 

  • Dr. Saundra Wall Williams

    Dr. Saundra Wall Williams is the CEO of WMS Leadership Solutions, an award-winning professional development, consulting, and training firm dedicated to supporting emerging and established women leaders. As the CEO, Dr. Saundra is renowned for her specialization in leadership training and mentorship, imparting invaluable insights to empower leaders to excel in their respective fields.  

     

    A dynamic keynote leadership speaker, Dr. Williams captivates audiences across all levels of leadership with her engaging talks. Her portfolio includes the delivery of numerous workshops, coaching sessions, keynotes, seminars, and training programs, all meticulously designed to instill effective leadership strategies. Her overarching goal is to educate, equip, and empower leaders, enabling them to not only lead exceptionally but also live their best lives.

     

    In addition to her role at WMS Leadership Solutions, Dr. Saundra Wall Williams serves as an Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, Policy, and Human Development at North Carolina State University.

     

    Previously, Dr. Williams held the position of Senior Vice President and Chief of Information Technology, Data, Business Intelligence, Library Systems, Distance Learning, and Workforce Development for the North Carolina Community College System. As the leader of the third-largest community college system globally, she spearheaded the implementation of the most extensive computer information system in higher education worldwide. Her remarkable expertise in technology and leadership has garnered recognition in books, leading technology media, and national Chief Information Officer (CIO) forums.

     

    Beyond her professional commitments, Dr. Williams actively contributes to various corporate and education boards. She holds a position on the Board of Trustees at Wake Technical Community College and serves as a corporate director for Ultimate Medical Education, Inc., and Higher Digital, Inc. Dr. Williams is also a valued board member for the NC State University College of Sciences Foundation Board, Tellus Foundation, Public School Forum, and co-chairs the Wake Invests in Women initiative.

     

    Dr. Williams serves as an ordained elder and a member of the College of Ordained Elders in the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International. Her role as the Director of the Spiritual Growth and Discipleship Division at Solid Rock Ministry International underscores her commitment to nurturing spiritual development.
