Rev. Tasha Gibson Assistant

Minister/Minister of Discipleship (Ext. 104)

Rev. Tasha Gibson is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she eventually served as a chapel assistant at Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel, before graduating with a B.A. in Communications. Following Howard, she pursued a Master's Degree in Educational Communication and Technology at New York University, moving to New York just days before the events of 9/11. She returned home to Indianapolis and worked for the Indianapolis Museum of Art, coordinating a program thattrained teenagers to teach art making to children in low income neighborhoods.

During this time, indeed, for many years, Tasha had been listening to stirrings of a call to ministry within her own soul. Finally embracing this call, she enrolled at Duke Divinity School. Following her graduation from Duke, she was accepted to be a pastoral resident at Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Upon completing the residency at Wilshire, Tasha accepted a call to serve as the minister to younger adults and discipleship at the First Baptist Church of Austin, Texas. There she coordinated younger adult ministry, including Sunday school, and discipleship, especially the Wednesday night gathering-Midweek Moorings.

Currently, Tasha serves at United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. As the minister of discipleship, she is responsible for supporting leaders of discipleship ministries across ages and life stages.
