Facilities Manager 

POSITION:

The Facilities Manager position is an Exempt Regular Full-Time position (40 hours per week). Overtime is paid at 41 hours and above.

 

PURPOSE:

Responsible for the management and upkeep of the building and properties; including maintenance, custodial, security and other services. Ensuring the needs of the church, employees, and/or visitors are met.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the overall building services provided within the facility
  • Manage the overall services required for church and estate to include grounds, parking lots, vehicles, cemeteries and other properties owned by the church as directed
  • Use best business practices to manage and reduce operating costs
  • Create and manage a budgets for various facility needs and expenses
  • Compare costs for various services and goods before recommending the best options for the facility
  • Manage the maintenance of the building by performing repairs or contracting approved maintenance services as needed
  • Track and provide monthly reports on building upkeep as well as anticipated long- and short-term improvements and maintenance projects
  • Interview and recommend for hire facility employees and contractors; such as custodial staff, security staff and janitorial services
  • Ensure the security of the building by helping to monitor vendor sign-in and movement throughout the building
  • Respond to emergency situations or other urgent issues involving the facility
  • Responsible for developing preventative maintenance programs for facilities
  • Manage all safety related issues; i.e. evacuation plan, annual inspections

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Must have facility management or building maintenance experience; interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written); organizational and planning skills; leadership skills; ability to guide and motivate employees; good physical condition.

PART-TIME YOUTH MINISTRY COORDINATOR


POSITION:

The Exempt Regular Part-Time Youth Ministry Coordinator work hours will be flexible and negotiated with the Executive Minister. The hours will be reported weekly to the Executive Minister.

 

PURPOSE:

The purpose is to minister to the youth of our church and community in grades 6-12 and to administer, develop, and implement youth ministry programs designed to meet the spiritual, social, and emotional needs of the youth, leading them to spiritual commitments and disciplines.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • A Christian, adhering to the foundational beliefs of UMMBC, with a heart for the youth.
  • Conduct yourself in a Christ-like manner and demonstrate high Biblical standards as you teach youth with your own life.
  • Establish meaningful personal relationships with the young people in the congregation and community by investing in their lives, such as attending lunch at the area schools and attending their extracurricular activities (ie: sporting events, concerts, school plays, and awards ceremonies).
  • Plan, implement, and attend weekly activities for the youth during the school year that includes Bible study, worship, fellowship and fun! The activities need to be relevant and effective in instructing, training, nurturing, and equipping youth for leading a Spirit-filled life of faith and forging deep Christian friendships.
  • Provide hands-on opportunities for service projects and mission trips for youth to learn how to live out their faith in helping meet the needs of others.
  • Plan, implement, and attend special summer events such as concerts and retreats.
  • Plan, organize, and attend youth camps & conferences.
  • Participate in annual youth ministry training and individual spiritual development.
  • Regularly attend the youth Sunday school class, assist with coordinating lessons, and teach as needed.
  • Create and monitor expenditures through UMMBC Youth Ministry budget.
  • Recruit and develop adults within the congregation to serve as committed mentors.
  • Work effectively with parents to foster support of the youth program, including ongoing communication to provide opportunities for input and feedback.
  • Work alongside other church staff members as a team player, attending staff meetings, and sharing in the vision and ministry in which UMMBC has been called.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Bachelor’s degree preferred with 1-2 years of experience with youth in a ministry context; a firm grasp of the foundations of the Christian faith and biblical literacy; excellent oral and written communication skills; administrative and organization skills.
