Greeting each day as an opportunity to make a difference, the multi-talented, multi-faceted Reverend Dr. Penni Sweetenburg-Lee receives international recognition as an educator, evangelist, dynamic motivational speaker, promoter, facilitator and events planner. Rev. Dr. Penni Sweetenburg-Lee acknowledged the call of ministry upon her life at the age of twelve at the Brick Baptist Church in St. Helena Island, South Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication, specializing in Speech, along with a minor in Theatre Arts at Hampton University (formally Institute) in Hampton, Virginia. She also holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Educational Administration from National University in San Diego, California, a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry Degree from The Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University.
Rev. Dr. Penni Sweetenburg-Lee was ordained a Minister of the Gospel at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in San Bernardino, California where she served for twenty years as Pastor of Christian Education, Evangelism and Discipleship. Dr. Sweetenburg-Lee upon relocating to Virginia in 2005 served numerous churches in Richmond and Vicinity and is covered in ministry by Good Shepherd Baptist Church, under the dynamic leadership of her Pastor and Mentor, Rev. Dr. Sylvester T. Smith in Richmond, Virginia.
Rev. Dr. Penni Sweetenburg-Lee, is the Widow of Mr. Gregory E. Lee, who transitioned from his earthly home on August 9, 2019. They were married for 30 years and were partners in marriage and ministry. Together, they founded “Triple “P” Enterprises:” Passion Penni Productions ad “On Kingdom Business Ministries” where GOD continues to OPEN DOORS for Rev. Dr. Penni Sweetenburg-Lee to preach, teach, train, evangelize and worship in spirit and in truth. Her ministry outreach is evidenced by her numerous conferences, retreats, businesses; non-profits, and special day services, commencements for the K-12 school system and colleges and universities. Dr. Penni Sweetenburg-Lee provides Motivational & Inspirational Speaking, dramatic interpretation performances and Seminar & Workshop Facilitating.
Dr. Penni Sweetenburg-Lee served her alma mater, Virginia Union University as Director of Career Services from 2009-2014 and as Interim Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Affairs for the Academic Year 2013-2014. Prior to relocating to Richmond to pursue her graduate studies in Theology, she served the California State University for eighteen years as a university administrator in academic affairs, student affairs and university advancement. She currently serves the Commonwealth of Virginia as the Director of Training & Alumni Development Programs for the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities.
Dr. Penni Sweetenburg-Lee is also nationally recognized in the field of Race Relations and Diversity for her Scholarship in the areas of Access and Retention of Students of Color. She has been invited to present her research at such notable institutions as Harvard University, University of Texas, Austin, Boston University, Boston College, Fairfield University, University of Cincinnati, University of Alaska, Fairbanks, to name a few. Dr. Penni co-authored her first book in 2003, entitled: “Our Stories: The Experiences of Black Professionals on Predominately White Campuses.”
Rev. Dr. Penni Sweetenburg-Lee passionately declares to any and every one she encounters: “I am, “On Kingdom Business” and it is my duty as a Servant of the Lord to work the work of Him who has sent me; while it is day; for the night is quickly coming and I will no longer be able to work!
