JAIL VOLUNTEER TRAINING SESSION 

The Volunteer Training Session for the Jail Ministry will be January 27th from 2:30 - 4pm at Bethany Baptist Church 600 Old Hollow Road. Please bring your ID. 

 

HBCU COLLEGE FESTIVAL 

Our middle and high school students will be traveling to the 17th Annual HBCU College Festival in Washington, DC; February 22-24, 2019. The festival is an annual event for students to learn about the opportunities offered by Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Students will be able to speak with representatives of approximately 80 HBCUs to understand what their institutions offer academically and socially. Some of these institutions will offer on-site admissions, waive application fees, and offer financial assistance. The festival has seminars on subjects related to applying to and attending college, including sources of financial assistance. Vendors and External Organizations (Fraternities, Sororities, and other Service Organizations) will be present at the festival. To attend students must be currently in 6th -12th grade.

The cost for UMMBC students will be $100 which includes lodging, transportation, and meals. Please sign-up promptly as space is limited. 

Registration packets and sign-up sheets are available online as well as at the Information Desk outside the Main Office. The registration deadline is Sunday, February 10, 2019.

2019 Offering Envelopes are now available. You may pick them up from the tables in the hallway outside the Main Office.

 

LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP 2019 

Registration has begun and will end on January 23rd. You may register online or at the Information Desk outside the Main Office. The Workshop Theme is “Reaffirming our Mission and Vision”. The conference will take place on January 26th from 8:30am un-til 1:30pm. The guest facilitator and preach-er is Rev. Dr. Frederick Gooding. 

 

THE RED DRESS TEA 

Come share in the first ever Red Dress Tea. It will be held on Sunday, February 3rd from 3:00pm until 5:00pm. at Forsyth Medical Center’s Conference Center. There is no cost to attend. It will be an afternoon of sisterhood, heart health and sharing. 

 

ANNUAL SUPER BOWL PARTY 

Our Annual Super Bowl Party will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Wear your favorite jersey and bring your favorite snack to share with everyone. Fish, wings and all the fixings will be served. There is no cost for this event. 

 

FORTNITE GAME NIGHT 

As part of our Youth Ministry’s Kingdom Kickback Series, we will host Fort-nite Game Night on Friday, February 8th from 6:00pm-9:00pm in the Fellow-ship Hall. The evening will consist of a devotional, wing bar, board games, card games, but most importantly the game Fortnite. Students in 5th-12th Grades are encouraged to attend and bring a friend. Advance registration is required and ends on February 6th.You may register online or at the Information Desk. The registration fee is $7.00 per person. If you have any questions please contact minister Sean McClure. 

 

ENDOWMENT COMMITTEE

The Endowment Scholarship Committee will hold an information session Sunday, January 27th, after the 11:00 am service, in the Fellowship Hall. We are asking parents and high school students to attend so that you will be prepared to apply for scholarships offered to graduating seniors of the UMMBC family. This session is informative and we encourage your participation. 

 

GIRL SCOUT COOKIES 

Girl Scout cookies have arrived! The price is still $4/box and $5/box for Gluten Free. Please support the Girl Scouts at UMMBC! 

 

CHURCH LIBRARY BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP 

New Year! New Resolutions? Hold up! Brace yourself for those life interruptions that are sure to surface! Join the Church Library Book Discussion Group as we discuss Life Interrupted: Navi-gating the Unexpected by Priscilla Shirer. The discussion will be on Tuesday, February 26 at 11:30 a.m. in the church library, 3rd floor. For further information, please contact Sister Lois Leggett at 336-945-5546. 

 

NURSERY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Volunteers are needed for the 8:00am and 11:00am worship services. Please contact Sigrid Hall 336-816-8955 to assist with this ministry. 

 

AUDIO/VIDEO MINISTRY

The Audio/Video Ministry is asking all per-sons interested in becoming a member of the ministry to contact Brother Gary Koontz. Training will be provided. For additional information, please contact the church office via telephone at 336-761-1358 or via email.
